I used to use 11s because I tuned to drop C. Got used to the guage and kept using them even at E standard. Played more acoustic for a decade so it didn't bother me. Recently got a nice Charvel and it came with 9s. Holy shit. Ive literally been driving with the parking brake on.

Thank you for the video, the tutorial style is what I am looking for right now. I am getting back to playing after a more than 40 year break, and I never really got out of the beginner stage back then. So, I still consider myself a beginner, and UA-cam is crazy good for finding videos like this. What I like better in this video than many of the videos I've already seen is how Rachel calls out the frets and strings to play, but she isn't getting into what every single note is in its major and minor form. Just straight-forward how to play the riffs.

I've been playing mine as a not travel guitar since the 80's. If it was good enough for Bowie, Gilmour & Van Halen. It's good enough for me.

This is the second channel I've watched about power chords, and both mention using two fingers to play two strings, or three fingers to play the chord with three strings. I learned guitar through power chords, and I've always played them using two fingers to play three strings. My ring finger holds the 4th and 5th strings at the same time, so two fingers, three strings, no pinky involved.

Due to tindinitis, I’m using the Billy Gibbons seven set right now, which are really like a 7/8 hybrid set. They are awesome as well. Probably cannot go below E flat tuning with them though.

for people thinking this can't be done this fast and negative comments. This girl was dedicated to learning. She practiced every day. She practiced songs, scales, and melodies everyday. That's how you get good. I'm thinking she had a good teacher as well and listened to them. Work was put in. It's hard to practice everyday when you suck. It's hard to practice everyday even when you don't suck. You will learn way faster practicing every single day than you will playing for 7 hours once a week. If you want to get better practice for an hour or more EVERY SINGLE DAY and not just noodling around playing stuff random. Learn SONGS all the way through not just riffs. Riffs are great in the beginning but playing a song all the way through is difficult up to speed. Some will learn faster than others. Enjoy the journey.

And after you talked about gauge, let's talk bout the material. xD Unfortunally I can't find the strings I am searching for. For me, pure Nickel strings sound the best. No nickel wounded steel strings, stainless steel or cobalt strings. My favourite gauge is 0095 - 46. Unfortunally there are no pure steel strings like this, so I have to use 9's.
